| Fishing from
boat is the common way to fish in this lake. But both ends ( at the in- and outflow)
of the lake can offer great fishing for char at late evenings. Just wade out into the
water and wait for the char to get in reach for a cast. The biggest trout caught on rod weighed
6.1 kg, the fish was caught on a small gold rapala. Biggest trout caught by net weighed 8
kg. Ice fishing record, a char weighing 1,4 kg.
At winter time the lake offers
nice icefishing.
The lake is controlled by the
state. You have to buy the "Statens Allmänna fiskekort" fishing permit. For

You can buy fishing permits at Virisen
Lappland, a mountain farm located just next to the lake on the north side. You can
also buy permits at tourist offices, tackle shops in nearby located villages.

Bränkonjuone, an area of small tarns just south of lake Virisen, total
water area: 60 kmē, Fishing for trout and char. You can buy fishing permits at Virisen

Granån,
small river at the east end of the lake Virisen (map). Limited access. To buy fishing permits
you have to send in an application to the Office of Västerbotten County ( länsstyrelsen i Västerbottens län). The stretch is 2 km long,
stretches from lake Virisen downstream to lake Bleriken. Only flyfishing is allowed here.
Bag limit: 3 fish a day. Minimum length: 300 mm.
Road
description to Virisen:
From south
Storuman-Virisen approx. 130 km. Take E 12 north, Storuman- Ajaureforsen 90 km, take left
at sign "Ajaure kraftstation", drive 20 km, take left accross a small bridge,
sign Virisen, drive 10 km take right at sign Virisen, steep upward for 4 km then it evens
out for 6 km towards Virisen where the road end. The road is locted at the side of
Gebnafjället.
From north
Hemavan-Virisen 50 km
Hemavan-Västansjö 10 km take right, sign "Ängesdal", drive 10 km, at road
crossing take left drive 10 km, at sign "Virisen" take right, drive 10 km,
take right at sign "Virisen". Steep upward for 4 km then it evens out for 6 km
towards Virisen where the road end. The road is locted at the side of Gebnafjället.
